Abstract
This paper examined the profile of Nomadic Education Programme teachers and pupils in Gombe state. It used the descriptive research design and the population comprised of all NEP teachers and pupils in Gombe State out of which a sample of 165 teachers and 384 pupils were randomly selected from 11 nomadic primary schools around the state. Two research questions were raised and two research instruments were designed: Nomadic Education Programme Teacher?EUR(TM)s Questionnaire (NEPTQ) and Nomadic Education Programme Pupils Interview Questions (NEPPIQ). Frequency count and percentages were used to analyze data collected and the following were the findings: NEP pupils have positive attitude towards school and hope to proceed to junior secondary schools, there are more male teachers and pupils in NEP, there are inadequate teachers, most teachers do not speak Fulfulde and are holders of NCE and there is total lack of incentive for the teachers. It was recommended that the nomadic community should be sensitized on the need to educate their children especially the girls, and the government should recruit and train more teachers for nomadic schools as well as ensure they are given some form of incentive to make them stay on the job.
