Abstract
This research was designed to investigate the relationship between continuous assessment and semester examination scores of undergraduate students in the Department of Education, Gombe State University. An ex-post-facto research design was employed, the entire 300 level students of the 2015/2016 academic session comprising 254 (153 are males and 101 are females). Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) was employed for the analysis and the null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed a positive significant relationship between continuous assessments and semester examination scores in the said Department. The study, therefore, recommended that continuous assessments should be given serious consideration by lecturers and faculty administrators to improve the quality of the assessments methods and ensure transparency in continuous assessments since it explains and predicts the future academic performance of undergraduate students.
